Commissioners approve multiple rezones, accept subdivision roads for county maintenance

Whitfield County commissioners approved several planning items including seven rezonings taken as a slate, a separate rezone for property listed as Bridal Spence and acceptance of subdivision roads built to county standards. The commission took items a through g as a slate and approved them 4-0 following a motion by Commissioner Robbins and a second by Commissioner Staton. A separate rezone for Bridal Spence was approved 3-0 with Commissioner Thomas recused. The record shows one public comment on one rezone item. Separately, commissioners accepted Covington Subdivision Phase 2 roads for county maintenance after staff confirmed the roads met county standards and were built by a private contractor; the motion to accept was moved by Commissioner Robbins and seconded by Commissioner Staton and passed 4-0. The Board also approved an alcohol-and-beverage license ownership change after a public hearing that drew no speakers for or against.
