The Verona Common Council on Aug. 11 approved a commercial lease renewal that will allow Hometown Community Church to continue meeting at the Verona Senior Center during Sunday mornings.
Ryan Hack, representing Hometown Community Church, thanked the council and described the senior center as “a perfect space for us” and noted the church’s community events, including an annual trunk-or-treat that draws hundreds of families. City staff recommended renewal and described the church as “excellent tenants” who report maintenance issues promptly.
Alder Helmke moved to approve the lease and Alder Harrison seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff noted the lease includes routine terms and a CPI-based adjustment for years 1 and 2 tied to recent CPI-U data; staff recommended renewal based on the church’s conduct and the community benefits it provides.
The approval allows Hometown Community Church to continue using the space; there was no discussion of a change in fees or lease conditions beyond the terms included in the packet.
