Board authorizes up to $20,000 to repair damaged 'Art on the Trail' sign

The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Board on Aug. 1 authorized a service agreement with SignWorks to repair a damaged Art on the Trail sign, approving a not-to-exceed amount of $20,000. Staff said initial repair work and skin replacement was estimated at $12,490 but that additional internal damage could add roughly $6,974, bringing the total close to $20,000. The sign was taken down after it was discovered damaged (staff stated the sign was removed in June) and is currently in city possession; SignWorks will pick up the sign, repair it and return it for reinstallation. Staff said the city can perform reinstallation if needed. The board discussed vendor pricing and acknowledged specialized work and high-profile location may increase cost. The motion to approve the service agreement with a not-to-exceed cap of $20,000 was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
