The City Council unanimously approved Aug. 12 a budget overrun of $8,400 from the golf reserve fund to replace the lounge and pro shop roofs at Hooper9s Landing. Parks and recreation and finance staff told council the city had budgeted $26,000 to replace the cart barn roof but an inspection after a reported leak in the lounge building recommended replacing the lounge roof as well. The city solicited three bids; the low bid from Callaway Roofing for TAMKO Titan 50-year shingles was $34,400. Staff recommended completing both roofs while the contractor was on site, resulting in a requested overrun of $8,400 to cover the difference. Council voted to fund the overrun from the golf reserve fund. Why it matters: Replacing both roofs now addresses an active leak reported by staff, aligns rooftop inventory (50-year shingle product), and reduces the likelihood of repeated contractor mobilizations.
