The City of Broussard on Aug. 12 introduced an ordinance to annex property located along the southern right‑of‑way of Garber Road (even addresses 520–578) into the city and place it in Voting District 1.
The ordinance (No. 25‑833) was introduced after staff noted a map in the council packet and confirmed the annexation had followed required administrative channels. The property was described in the agenda as unzoned and unannexed, adjacent to existing city limits.
There was no public comment. Council members moved and seconded introduction and approved the motion to introduce the ordinance by roll call.
Why it matters: If adopted at later readings, the annexation would expand the city limits to include the specified properties along Garber Road and assign them to Voting District 1, with attendant changes in municipal services and jurisdictional responsibilities for those parcels.
Next steps: The ordinance was introduced (first reading); subsequent public hearings or additional readings will be required for final adoption according to standard annexation procedures.
