Council members reported that construction on wells 8 and 9 is progressing and that both well buildings are built and piping has been installed down to about 400 feet. Motors have been set and the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems have been built, town officials said.
Wayne Waterman (addressed in the meeting as "Waterman") told the council the wells are "well underway," with interior work remaining and site tidying to finish. Council members said bringing one or both wells online this year will depend on equipment and the ability to shut down an existing treatment plant to complete integration and testing.
No firm date for the wells to enter service was announced; officials said completion could occur by the end of the year depending on equipment delivery and operational scheduling.
Town Manager Billy and council members also thanked responders and community members during the meeting on unrelated items; the wells update was part of routine reports and correspondence.
