Council rezones former Carlson site to light industrial, approves new Briar Brook plats

Park City’s council voted unanimously Aug. 12 to reclassify a 12.7‑acre tract formerly home to Carlson Company from A‑1 agricultural zoning to I‑1 light industrial and approved final plats that expand the Briar Brook subdivision.
Russ Avey, the city’s zoning administrator, told the council the subject tract is split‑zoned and that staff could not find the original zone‑change ordinance establishing a split between the east and west halves; the council moved to rezone the entire parcel at 6045 North Broadway to I‑1. The planning commission recommended the rezoning by a 7‑0 vote on July 10, Avey said.
The council also approved the Briar Brook third edition final plat, a replat adding two lots at the end of Elmwood Street on a roughly 1.6‑acre site zoned R‑2 single‑family residential, and approved the Briar Brook fourth edition final plat, a replat that increases lots from 14 to 24 on property south of 90 Third Street North east of Broadway. Planning commission recommended both plats 7‑0 on July 21.
Each motion passed 7‑0 on the council floor. Staff said the rezonings and plats address corrections and additions consistent with the planning commission recommendations; no public objections were recorded on these agenda items at the meeting.
