Council approves AV and security contracts for new senior center; IT quote higher than budgeted

Park City’s council approved two vendor agreements on Aug. 12 to equip the city’s new senior center with audio-visual and electronic security systems.
Council authorized an agreement with Hop Sound and Electric not to exceed $99,420.67 for audio-visual equipment to be paid from the capital projects fund. The item was budgeted under the owner‑provided equipment and furniture allowance in the project budget, staff said.
The council also approved an agreement with Convergent for IT and electronic security equipment at a cost not to exceed $42,763.61. Staff told the council that the original estimate of $36,508 was obtained about five months earlier and that the current quote represents an increase of roughly $6,200. A staff member noted there is substantial contingency in the senior center project budget to cover the change.
Both motions passed on unanimous votes. The contracts were authorized to proceed with payment from the capital projects fund; council members did not make further amendments to the scope or funding at the meeting.
Council members and staff framed these approvals as part of finishing equipment procurement for the senior center so construction and fit-out can proceed. No additional project scope changes were approved at the meeting.
