Commissioners approve school‑resource officer interagency agreement; per‑day reimbursement based on annual officer+K9 compensation

The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved an interagency agreement with Adams Central Community Schools to provide a school‑resource officer (SRO) and K‑9 services for the school year. County staff and counsel presented a one‑page exhibit that sets the reimbursement schedule for days the officer is on duty at the school.

County counsel and sheriff’s office staff explained that the total annual compensation and benefits for the officer and the K‑9 — shown in the agreement materials as $105,007.71 — are used to calculate the per‑diem reimbursement the school will pay for each day the officer is assigned to campus. Officials clarified that the full annual figure is a calculation base; the school pays only for days the officer and dog are on campus under the agreement, not the full annual amount unless all scheduled days are reimbursed.

County staff said the school board for Adams Central was expected to approve the agreement at a separate meeting. The board moved to approve the county’s contract and to authorize the Adams County sheriff to execute the agreement once the school’s final approvals were completed.

Commissioners requested that staff confirm that the exhibit and per‑diem calculations match the school district’s reimbursement processes, and requested a signed copy be returned for county records after the school’s approval.

The agreement covers one school year and is subject to annual renewal under terms in the exhibit; staff said figures may be updated in subsequent years.
