County research finds North Ogden City already owns disputed right-of-way parcel
Summary
County staff researched a parcel near 1050 East and 2750 North after a North Ogden City inquiry and found the city already owned the strip; GIS records were corrected and North Ogden was notified.
Weber County staff told commissioners Aug. 4 that an apparent county-owned right-of-way near 1050 East and 2750 North was, after review, already owned by North Ogden City and that county GIS and recorder records have been corrected.
Staff said they received an inquiry from Scott Hess of North Ogden asking whether the county would convey a parcel. Staff reviewed GeoGizmo and recorder tax maps; because GeoGizmo had been down and later showed differing information from the recorder’s tax map, staff did additional deed research with the surveyor’s office and located the deed that had conveyed the property to North Ogden City.
A staff member said GIS has updated the public system to show North Ogden as the owner and that North Ogden City had been notified of the correction. Commissioners were briefed so they could respond if the mayor or city officials inquire; no further county action was required because the parcel already belonged to the city.
Staff also scanned for additional nearby parcels flagged in the inquiry and reported that corrections and notifications were completed. Commissioners described the matter as an "easy" issue and thanked staff for resolving the mapping discrepancy.
