County officials used the public session to list scheduled meetings and presentations connected to the county’s budget and audit cycle. The commission announced an Aug. 12 work session at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the budget and a Board of County Canvassers meeting at 9:30 a.m. on the same day to canvass ballots from the 2025 primary election, with the regular commission session to begin immediately afterward.
The commission also placed the county audit and other presentations on the August calendar. On Aug. 15, April Schwartz of Varney and Associates is scheduled to present the 2024 county audit. The meeting record also lists Leslie Lecamp of Mosaic and Bob Davis of “Flat Cell TD” to give a county meal presentation on Aug. 15. Separately, the Southeast Kansas Career and Technical Education Center will hold a ribbon-cutting at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at 1301 E. 27th Terrace in Pittsburgh; the announcement noted one or more commissioners may attend.
In new-business remarks, a participant identified as Lisa flagged a regional Southeast Kansas official-district meeting set for Sept. 4 in Franklin County (Ottawa) beginning at 8:30 a.m.; she said commissioners should RSVP so the clerk can record attendance. Commission members discussed additional work sessions to finish budget drafts and set a timeline that would allow completion before the next round of commission meetings.
The announcements were presented as scheduled items; the record does not show votes, budget decisions, or changes to appropriations during the session. The meeting record indicates staff and commissioners will follow up with scheduled presenters and return to budget work sessions as needed.
