Crawford County commissioners agreed to provide $500 to the Pittsburgh 12U All‑Star baseball team to help cover travel expenses for a regional tournament in Whitestown, Indiana.

The request came during the public‑comment portion of the county meeting when player Dylan Spencer described the team’s recent results and travel plans. “We’re the Pittsburgh 12U all‑star team, and we won state in Baxter Springs … we’re going to Whitestown, Indiana to play in the Woodway Grove series regionals, and we’re trying to find support for our trip,” Spencer said.

Tracy Higgins, who identified herself as an assistant coach, said the team had 13 players on the roster and that coaches and the players would stay together in a hotel while at the tournament. “We’ve been practicing hard,” Higgins said.

Commissioners moved and seconded a contribution to assist with travel costs; the motion carried and the county provided a $500 allocation for the team’s trip.

The county did not specify additional fundraising or matching requirements for the team. Commissioners invited the team to report back on the tournament results.
