The town manager reported Aug. 12 that the Bowe Junction water interconnection pre‑application was ranked third by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services under an emerging contaminants program. Town staff said the ranking makes the project eligible for combined funding that may include a direct grant portion and two low‑interest revolving loan options to cover construction costs.
Manager David Stack said the town had not previously appeared on the list for this program and that the ranking, if sustained through the DES application process, could substantially reduce the local share of the construction cost. Staff will follow up with DES clarifications and will report back to the board as the application moves through review.
No board action was required; staff will proceed with DES follow‑up and keep the board informed.
