The Bow Select Board voted Aug. 12 to transfer $100,000 into the sewer system capital reserve fund to cover an immediate pump replacement and related maintenance. The board also authorized withdrawing up to $100,000 from that reserve to fund purchase and installation of a new pump and to pay for rebuilding the existing unit as a backup.
Public Works staff said one sewer pump is out of service and the system is operating on a single pump; quotations for replacement equipment had been received but were time‑limited. Staff reported quotes in the low‑to‑mid‑$90,000 range for replacement and expected the $100,000 authorization to cover purchase, removal, inspection and a rebuilt unit to keep the system under warranty.
The board approved both the transfer into the capital reserve fund and the withdrawal authorization; both votes were unanimous. Staff said they will proceed to obtain updated quotes and schedule replacement work to restore redundancy in the sewer pump system.
Outcome: transfer of $100,000 to the sewer CRF and authorization to withdraw up to $100,000 for pump replacement/rebuild; motions passed unanimously.
