Council approves design amendments for Lincoln and Milton EMS stations totaling $102,140

Sussex County Council on Aug. 12 approved two contract amendments to advance design and construction‑related services for future EMS stations in Lincoln (Station 101) and Milton (Station 111).
Assistant County Engineer Mark Parker said the county will use the same designer of record, George, Miles & Burr (GMB), who worked on previous stations. The council approved Amendment No. 6 to the architectural services contract with GMB in an amount not to exceed $52,640 for additional design and construction‑related services, and approved Amendment No. 2 to the EJCDC 2024 miscellaneous engineering base contract with GMB in an amount not to exceed $49,500 for additional design services. The two amendments total $102,140.
Parker said the county plans to design the two stations concurrently with staggered milestones to accelerate the station construction program and noted that GMB identified additional design and construction administration efforts not included in past proposals. “We’re gonna push them together in the same schedule, with some, staggered milestones,” Parker said. He also said the proposals include a mechanical/electrical/plumbing subconsultant.
Both amendments were presented with staff recommendation for approval and passed on voice vote at the Aug. 12 meeting. Parker said Milton is the more critical infill station for coverage area and that efforts are underway to complete both as soon as possible. The council did not vote additional appropriations at the meeting; the motions approved contract amendments with not‑to‑exceed amounts as stated.
The amendments were read into the record and approved in separate motions; the engineering department will manage the contract amendments and subsequent design tasks.
