Danville board appoints Alyssa Patterson to fill school‑board vacancy through Dec. 2025

The Danville Area School District School Board voted on Aug. 6 to appoint Alyssa Patterson to fill the vacancy created by the July 9 resignation of Wayne Brookhart. The appointed term runs from Aug. 6, 2025, through Dec. 1, 2025, the district noted.

Alyssa Patterson introduced herself during the meeting and said she was a Danville native and a parent of two young children who will attend district schools. “My name is Alyssa Patterson. I'd like to serve on the school board. I was born and raised in Danville, grew up through the school district. I have 2 young children who will be going through the school district in the future,” she told trustees before the vote.

Board action

The agenda item stated: “Board will take action to appoint Alyssa Patterson as director for the Danville Area School District School Board to replace Wayne Brookhart who resigned on 07/09/2025.” Trustees then conducted a roll‑call vote; the public roll calls recorded on the transcript show the following recorded yes votes: Mr. Garmin, Dr. Green, Mr. Gregg, Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Umbriac and Mr. Reichert Jr. The presiding officer, Missus Johnson, presented the appointment after asking if there were any objections and then moved the item to a vote.

Oath and seating

After the vote, district staff administered the oath and welcomed Patterson to the dais; the appointment was announced as effective Aug. 6, 2025, and the district noted that a school director’s term begins and ends the December following the November election in that year.
