Committee signals support for Libertyville High School girls flag football overnight trip

Committee members discussed a proposed overnight team-building trip for the Libertyville High School girls flag football team to Camp Duncan and indicated committee-level support to move the request forward for board approval.

Tom (staff) described the trip as an ed tour because it is not connected to an IHSA competitive event; the focus is team building and culture-building. He said the trip will be low-cost and that the coach has prior experience with similar successful outings. The trip was described as departing on the 16th and returning on the 17th (dates in August were discussed in the context of the meeting timeline). Tom said the Libertyville High School athletic director and principal had approved the trip.

Because the trip falls before the next scheduled full board meeting, staff asked the committee for informal consensus to allow planning to proceed, noting that the committee cannot formally approve or vote but can register support. Committee members expressed no concerns; one member said the item is "good to go" because building-level approvals exist. Staff said a formal approval will be sought at the full board meeting as required by district procedure.
