The Committee of the Whole approved several Port Control items: an emergency ordinance to modernize the secured‑area identification badge ordinance, an amendment to expand an existing contract with JD Power for customer experience survey services, and a lease amendment reflecting a tenant name change at Burke Lakefront Airport.
Port Control representatives told the committee the badging update modernizes language and gives the department flexibility to align with Transportation Security Administration requirements and current badging software and administration. Council members voiced support for the update.
The JD Power amendment will expand services on an existing contract (PS2024‑09) to collect broader customer feedback; the director said the work allows more nimble approaches to collecting passenger experience data. Committee members said they supported the expansion as an existing, long‑running contract.
A final port item authorized a lease amendment to reflect a legal name change for an existing tenant at Burke Lakefront Airport (leases LS2020‑2022‑0011 and LS2024‑0006). Council asked staff to provide a fuller inventory of leased spaces at Burke Lakefront to understand revenue generation; the Port Control director agreed to provide that information to the policy team.
All three items were approved in committee and will be signed and routed for council consideration or execution as required.
