Prathna Banerjee, county engineer, and Road & Bridge staff presented several capital requests aimed at protecting equipment and materials and improving operational readiness. Requests included: construction of an equipment shed at the Kathy Fleming yard to shield tractors, rollers and other heavy equipment from weather; a roofed sand-storage shed to keep de-icing sand dry (presented estimate $185,000) so trucks and loaders can access material without clumping; a three-sided containment wall to protect cold-mix asphalt stockpiles from erosion and contamination; and an additional herbicide truck (staff said personnel and a related personnel request would be presented later). Banerjee said the equipment-shed request mirrors prior years' asks and is intended to extend equipment life, reduce repairs and ensure quicker response for road maintenance. She described the sand shed as an open structure tall enough for loaders to back under, and said the containment wall is to reduce material loss and maintain environmental compliance. Commissioners asked for dimensional details and noted the requests are practical investments; staff said they will supply more precise dimensions and cost estimates. No formal action or appropriation occurred during the workshop.
