FHRA liaison reports developer interest, CinderTrak phase 2 testing and Ivy Tech meeting

Aug. 11 — Greg Goodnight, the FHRA economic development liaison, told the Fort Harrison Reuse Authority the agency has drawn developer interest and that environmental testing and institutional outreach are underway. Goodnight said consultants BCA are conducting a phase 2 study on the DNR property known as the CinderTrak site and that the consultants expect to have results the week of Aug. 25. “They should have the results of that phase 2 report sometime, they're hoping for the week of August 25,” Goodnight said. He also said the FHRA has met with multiple developers, many pursuing housing, and that some developers have expressed interest in FHRA-owned sites. “We are continue to get a lot of looks and a lot of interest from housing developers,” Goodnight said. Goodnight said the authority has scheduled a meeting with Ivy Tech to better understand the college’s long-term plan for its existing facility; that meeting is planned as a virtual call. He also said there have been meetings about a possible DORA and riverfront district licensing in the area, which could involve FHRA sites as well as other city areas. Goodnight presented the update as a general report and invited questions; no formal action was taken during the report portion of the meeting. Specific developers’ names, project proposals, funding sources and timelines for potential housing projects were not disclosed on the record.
