The Louisiana Committee on Parole denied parole for Anthony Harvey on Aug. 6, 2025, after reviewing his institutional record, program participation and family support. Harvey said his primary contributions while incarcerated were giving back to the prison community and mentoring younger men as a boxing trainer and mentor. Institutional testimony described him as a class-A trustee assigned to the laundry with 12 disciplinary reports and a low risk (TIGER) score; he was enrolled in a 100-hour 'thinking for a change' course. Representatives from Louisiana Parole Project said they would provide mentorship, social-skills training and practical reentry assistance if the board granted parole. "He will get a case manager, a mentor ... he'll become versed in technology and social norms," Carrie Myers told the board. Harvey's son and other family members spoke in favor of release, describing long-standing family support and plans for housing and involvement in the community. The board, while noting Harvey’s age and steady employment in prison, said he needed additional demonstrated preparation and programming; members voted to deny parole. The denial was recorded during the Aug. 6 hearing.
