Board signs MOUs, accepts resignations and names disciplinary hearing authority

At its meeting the Oneida Special School District Board approved a consent package that included memorandums of understanding with the district’s special-education partners and outside providers, accepted two resignations and approved a cooperative purchasing agreement, the board said.
The consent agenda included memorandums with special-education services, the Niswonger Foundation, the Western Governors School, West Therapy and the University of Tennessee at Martin. Board members recorded unanimous aye votes on the consent agenda and on the cooperative purchasing agreement, which district staff said allows the district to procure goods and services without running individual bids when using approved cooperative contracts.
The board also accepted letters of resignation from Mackenzie Reed and Ethan Douglas. The board approved a corrected alternate pay schedule to add Michael Laxton, whom staff said had been omitted in error from the previously distributed pay schedule. The board approved a leave-of-absence request for Kevin Harms starting Sept. 29 with the return date to be determined by medical advice.
In accordance with a state requirement, the board named Ashley Billingsley (OES principal), Selena Mayberry (OMS principal), Stacy Love (OHS principal) and Kim Burrows (special-education director) as the district’s disciplinary hearing authority.
District staff presented a requested list of people the administration would like to hire in August; the hires were presented during the director’s report and did not have a recorded motion in the meeting minutes. The hires listed by the director included Michael West, Ashley Lacey, Sabrina Washam, Eric Stevens, Shonda Bowen, Frankie Ellis, Patricia Stradlin, Bridal Chambers, Amber King, Carmen Kron, Gracie Barnes, Sarah Pemberton, Drew Crabtree, Cheyenne Atkins, Jackie Sexton and Shannon McCart.
