The council approved, on the consent agenda, purchase of three new cardiac monitors and associated automated CPR devices to update aging equipment used by the city’s fire and EMS crews.
Fire staff said the department’s current Lifepak 15 monitors are approaching 20 years old and the Lucas 2 devices are about 13 years old and will lose vendor support; the planned replacements are the Lifepak 35 monitors and Lucas 3 devices. Staff told council that purchasing the units together produced a better price and that the package includes three-year service agreements.
Finance and staff said funds for the purchases were included in the city’s five-year capital plan and that approximately $140,000 had been encumbered toward these capital purchases. The ordinance authorizing the purchase was placed on the consent agenda and included in the group of measures adopted by council during the meeting.
Council members posed no objections during the discussion; staff said the replacements will ensure continued vendor support and maintenance coverage for essential life‑saving equipment.
