City to issue CMAR request for water facilities, readies LGAO RFA and legislative requests for Citrus Building transfer

The city manager said the selection committee for that RFA will be members of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) and noted Commissioner Dantzler is the commission's liaison to AHAC; the manager recommended assigning Commissioner Dollison or Commissioner Dantzler as the commission liaison for the LGAO RFA selection process.
Separately, the city manager outlined points the city plans to present to the Polk County legislative delegation the next day, including property tax reform, tourist development taxes, safeguarding community redevelopment agencies, concerns with Senate Bill 180 and its reach beyond emergency management, and a primary appropriation request asking the state to transfer ownership of the Florida Citrus Building to the city. "We have spent beyond $3,000,000 in improving that facility and have continued to make it available for the community to use," the city manager said, noting the city holds a lease dating to February 2017.
