Rules committee presses staff to update online code and follow up on zoning revisions

The North College Hill Rules & Public Policy committee on Aug. 11 discussed apparent gaps in the citycode posted online and asked staff to seek an administrative confirmation so the online record shows a current through date. Committee members also asked staff to follow up with the city administrator about the status of a zoning-code update.

Committee members noted the city code on American Legal Publishing lists the code as "current through April 2022." The chair said the online display should indicate that the legislation is current even in years where the council has not adopted new codified ordinances. The committee asked staff to contact the citylegal/clerk or Mr. Hedger so the vendor has a confirmation to update that date.

The committee did not take formal action or adopt legislation at the meeting. Members directed staff to: (1) contact the person identified as Mr. Hedger to request a confirmation file or a status note for American Legal Publishing so the online display reflects a more recent year, and (2) follow up with the city administrator about the pending zoning-code update and report back to the committee.

Committee members discussed that the zoning-code update is pending but did not have details during the meeting. No ordinance or draft zoning text was presented to the Rules committee that night.

Staff said they would return with the results of those follow-ups for consideration at a future meeting.
