CHARLESTON COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION — The planning commission on Aug. 11 voted to recommend denial of a proposal to rezone two parcels (TMS 310-06-00-018 and 310-06-00-132) from neighborhood commercial (NC) to community commercial (CC) for use as a CarMax vehicle staging area.
What staff said: Planning staff reported the parcels are currently vacant and that the CC district allows more intense uses—vehicle sales, vehicle storage, wholesale operations and other uses that NC does not. Staff recommended disapproval, finding the request inconsistent with surrounding residential zoning and uses.
