County to consider awarding admin parking-lot replacement contract to Lakeside Industries

Public Works facilities staff on Monday previewed a contract award for asphalt replacement at the county administrative building, the WSU extension building parking lot, and portions of Third Avenue adjacent to county facilities. “There's a total of $205,957 and 53¢,” Facilities representative Sean Roey said, identifying Lakeside Industries as the apparent low bidder. Roey said three bids were received and that Lakeside’s price was roughly $513 lower than the second-place bidder. The project drawing included lane work closest to county property and striping changes to add several handicap spots near the upper parking area, Roey said. The item is a motion item on the commissioners’ agenda and will be considered for award and execution. Why it matters: replacing failing asphalt and adding accessible parking improves safety and accessibility for county staff and visitors and coordinates repaving work in partnership with the City of Kelso on Third Avenue. What was not decided: the workshop previewed the award and map; no formal award vote was recorded during the workshop.
