County awards $205,010 contract for administration building parking-lot replacement; City of Kelso to reimburse portion

The Cowlitz County Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a contract award to Lakeside Industries for the administration-building parking-lot replacement and adjacent Third Avenue pavement work.
A facilities presenter told commissioners the total contract amount is $205,009.57, the lowest of three bids. The board was told the city of Kelso will reimburse the county roughly $62,000 for the portion of work in front of Kelso's right-of-way, and the project also includes a small parking area used by Washington State University.
Commissioners asked about how the contractor would accommodate parking during work. Staff said the contract specifies weekend or night work and that paving could be completed in one weekend with striping and curb-stop work potentially taking a second weekend. Staff also explained that additional handicap-accessible spaces were being added along the ramp frontage and that maps had been provided for commissioners to review.
The board approved the contract on a motion without further discussion.
