The Homewood City Council confirmed a calendar of committee and council meeting date adjustments for September and announced dates for budget hearings. Councilors agreed to avoid Labor Day scheduling and set committee nights and council dates in September, with overall budget hearings planned for Sept. 9–11 and Sept. 23–25 (dates and times to be finalized). Councilor Schmidt said the budget presentation will be given at the final August council meeting (Aug. 25) and the council will hold dedicated budget hearings across the listed September dates, including nights focused on capital projects, the general fund, other funds, and employee funding issues. The council asked for preference about start times and the chair recommended 5 p.m. starts to accommodate working residents; a possible early 4 p.m. meeting on Sept. 29 was mentioned as a contingency. Council members stressed the prework already done on the budget and said they expect a relatively streamlined process. The meeting calendar changes were adopted by unanimous vote as Resolution 25-1-39.
