The Homewood City Council accepted a $5,000 county Homewood Community Grant to replace a broken extractor washer used for turnout gear in the fire department. The fire chief told the council the mayor alerted him to the $5,000 grant and the department has remaining budgeted funds to cover the total cost, which the chief said is $6,800. "We have a washer extractor that is broken…The mayor tipped me off to a $5,000 grant from the county. We applied and got it," the chief said. Councilors moved and seconded approval and the council adopted the measure unanimously as Resolution 25-1-38. The council did not identify the vendor during the meeting; staff said the department is prepared to place the order once the resolution is approved.
