The board approved the district’s 2025–26 state and federal grant applications after a staff update noting federal allocations remain in flux.
Ryan Mulvey told the board that recent news indicated the federal government would release funds that had been held, but the exact district allocation from the state remained ‘‘not specified’’ at the time of the meeting. ‘‘We still don't have the exact amounts what that will mean for us,’’ Mulvey said. He explained that federal funds are routed through the state and the district awaits the state’s allocations. When asked if the final amounts would be posted, Mulvey said he would provide an update when the district has those figures.
Board members asked that finalized grant amounts be shared with the board and suggested posting a final list as an informational item so the public could track what the district ultimately received. Mulvey said districts sometimes receive reallocations into January and that the list adopted at the meeting gives a ‘‘very close baseline’’ for planning; staff proposed returning with an informational update later in the year to show final allocations and any changes.
The board moved, seconded and approved the state and federal grants list by voice vote. Staff will provide finalized amounts and recommended next steps if allocations materially change.
Why it matters: State and federal grants can fund curricula, staffing, special programs and services. While the district approved the grant applications, final funding levels may change and staff will report back when amounts are finalized.
Follow-up: Staff committed to issue updated amounts to the board once the state allocations are confirmed and to consider an informational update at a later meeting.
