Board adopts district 2025–26 budget after public hearing with no speakers

The Public schools board of directors held a public hearing on the district’s 2025–26 budget, received no public testimony, and then adopted the budget by resolution.

District staff read the public-hearing rules required under Board Policy 1410 and opened the hearing for public comment on the 2025–26 budget. The president invited members of the public to speak three times; no one signed up to speak. ‘‘Hearing none, I will now close the public hearing for the 2025–26 budget and we will now reconvene back to our regular open public board meeting,’’ the president said.

Finance staffer Diane Hoach presented the budget and reported only positive comments and a few walk-in thank-yous. ‘‘We’re just asking that the board recommend or approve the budget as recommended,’’ Hoach said.

Board member Lisa moved approval of the 2025–26 fiscal-year budgets as presented in Resolution 20526-1; the motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote. The president announced, “Motion passes.” The board made no public amendments during the session.
