Superintendent previews full staffing, new district website and joint fundraising portal ahead of Aug. 13 opening

At the first board meeting before the new school year, the superintendent told trustees the district is “fully staffed” for classroom positions and previewed new digital tools and partnerships to support the August 13 start. The superintendent thanked maintenance, operations and office staff for summer work to prepare schools and said principals and secretaries are back on campus. The district is continuing recruitment to cover leave‑time gaps and a half‑time elementary music position that remains open. The superintendent described a new collaboration among the district, LAEF (Los Altos Educational Foundation), PTAs and youth groups and said the partners have launched a combined website called “LASD Education Partners” to centralize back‑to‑school packet donations and volunteer signups. “All last year, we worked really hard ... to kind of move forward with a more collaborative approach around fundraising with the goal being that all the organizations are able to fundraise more,” the superintendent said. District webmaster Sandra Bush was credited with building new district and school websites, which the superintendent said are scheduled to launch Wednesday and will be maintained by principals and Sandra Bush rather than as PTA volunteer positions. Board members asked whether in‑person donations (checks or cash) would still be accepted at school sites; the superintendent and other staff said the portal is the preferred method but that schools will accept checks or cash if families deliver them. The superintendent also invited trustees to a back‑to‑school kickoff next Monday at Eagan beginning at 8:30 a.m. What happens next: staff will launch the new district and school sites per the superintendent’s timetable, and principals will be primary webmasters for their school pages while the district promotes the LASD Education Partners portal to families.
