The Oakwood Board of Education on June 25 accepted the resignation of administrative assistant Sandy Branham effective July 1 and approved a slate of supplemental, seasonal and extended‑year hires and stipends recommended by administration.
Superintendent (Dr.) introduced Chelsea Broxma, who the administration is recommending be hired as administrative assistant to the superintendent pending board approval at the July 7 meeting. Broxma spoke briefly, said she is excited to start, and noted she is leaving a trainer position at PSA Airlines because the company is relocating operations.
Other personnel actions approved during the meeting included renewal of classified contracts for 2025–26; employment of an accompanist and van drivers; summer intervention staff hires; an appointment of Melissa McToll as administrative assistant to special education and substitute coordinator; extended responsibility stipends; and approved extended‑year services per IEPs. The board also approved supplemental resignations from student council and a professional development committee and authorized limited transition work by Sandy Branham during the handover period.
Why it matters: personnel decisions affect school operations, special education services and summer programming. Pending hires that require formal approval at the July 7 meeting will become effective only after the board’s vote.
