Fine Arts Boosters give $30,000 for auditorium microphones; foundation covers remainder

Oakwood Fine Arts Boosters (OFAB) has committed $30,000 toward a new microphone package for the district’s high school auditorium, Superintendent (Dr.) announced June 25, saying the district selected a microphone system priced at $45,896.
The Superintendent said the Oakwood Schools Foundation will provide the remaining funds, describing the OFAB gift as the largest the boosters have ever given. She invited representatives from the foundation and boosters to the dais to present the check and posed for a photo with board members.
“OFAB is generously contributing $30,000 toward this project, the largest gift that they've ever awarded to any group in the district,” the Superintendent said. She added the microphones will improve sound quality for performances and allow theater budgets to be used for sets, costuming and training rather than sound rental.
Why it matters: Students, performers and audiences will use the auditorium for concerts, plays and presentations; the permanent sound improvements aim to reduce ongoing rental costs and support arts programs.
No board action was required; the gift was announced and a ceremonial presentation with photos followed the superintendent’s report.
