City authorizes application for KY Waters funding to address water loss

The municipal resolution appoints Mayor Chuck D Charles as the official project representative and directs staff to apply for funding in support of measures to reduce system water loss. Michelle, a city staff member, told commissioners the funds can be used for line replacement and meter replacement and estimated the award could be $2,000,000 with no local match required; she described the program as statewide and competitive. Commissioners voted in favor on a motion and second; the resolution passed by voice vote.
