Rose Drain, a resident and member of BG Song, told the Bowling Green City Planning Commission she and the Eastside Association will go door to door in the PR District and older East Side neighborhoods to distribute the city's Good Neighbor Guide and information about leases and renters' responsibilities. The effort is scheduled to take place during the university's public-good kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 23. Drain said volunteers will work in pairs, will not enter apartment buildings, and will cover blocks from a supplied list of addresses. "We're gonna do 2,500 doors," she said, and asked planning commissioners, city council members and others to volunteer. The effort aims to put information into the hands of renters about their responsibilities and rights. Drain said past Eastside Association campaigns reached hundreds of doors and that this year's goal is larger; organizers have not finalized the number of volunteer pairs but estimated they would need roughly 15 or more pairs. The commission took the comment under advisement; there was no formal action by the commission on the outreach request at the meeting.
