The Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Aug. 12 approved a memorandum of understanding with Fayetteville City Schools designating Don Davidson Park as an emergency staging area.
The MOU was presented after review in the work session and staff confirmed local first responders had been consulted. The mayor explained that the staging location is intended to provide a coordinated area "in the event that something happened" at a school. Vice Mayor Bradford moved to approve the MOU and Alderman Keenan seconded; the motion passed by roll call.
City staff told the board that the police chief, fire chief and the Lincoln County sheriff’s office had been briefed and that the site would be used for staging and coordination, not as a permanent school facility. The board recorded no conditions or amendments to the MOU during the meeting.
