Board introduces new dean and approves new elementary principal; K-5 math materials delivered

Kaneland Community Unit School District 302 introduced Steve Lucas as the new dean of students at Kaneland High School and the board approved hiring Leah Roselli as principal of John Shields Elementary during the July 28 meeting at Harter Middle School. "My name is Steve Lucas, new dean of students. Been in education. I think this is my fifteenth year," Lucas told the board as he described prior roles as a CTE teacher, athletic director and administrator. Lucas said he and his family live in the area and he previously worked at Plano High School. Superintendent Dr. Rolling told the board the personnel report included approval of "the hiring of Leah Roselli as the new principal at John Shields Elementary School." Dr. Rolling said Roselli has already begun work in the building and will be formally introduced at a future meeting. The superintendent also reported that new K-5 math materials have been delivered to schools, that some staff have completed training and that the district's teaching-and-learning team is finalizing a professional-development schedule for additional staff training before the school year. The introduction of the dean and the personnel actions were informational or approved as part of the consent/personnel agenda; no separate employment disputes or contested personnel actions were reported at the meeting.
