Council business: workshop agenda changes, Zion Cemetery update, traffic requests and administrative motions

At the end of its Aug. 7 meeting, Tampa City Council approved a series of procedural motions and staff-report requests that did not require immediate ordinances but will return as written reports or agenda items.

Council amended the Sept. 25 city workshop agenda to prioritize land-development and planning topics, asked staff to move the biannual capital improvements presentation to a January/February workshop date, and added briefings on the housing needs assessment and the coastal action plan. Councilwoman Hertek led the amendment and it passed on the floor.

Council also directed staff to provide a written report on Zion Cemetery status for the Sept. 18 regular session. Councilman Maniscalco had requested the update and asked staff to coordinate with county and partner entities where appropriate.

On mobility matters, council requested written reports: (1) on efforts related to a proposed cut-through at K Bar Range to address Tampa Fire response times (initial report requested for Sept. 18, later adjusted), and (2) on the potential crosswalk change on Bayshore Boulevard between Brevard and Swan (requested for a Sept. 18 written report). Council also asked mobility staff to investigate a potential traffic signal at 5147 County Line Road in the Grand Hampton area and to report back with coordination plans with Pasco County or other agencies; the report date was set for Sept. 18.

Council accepted a number of administrative filings and motions and set dates for follow-up written reports or workshop items as indicated on the record.

Ending: Most items are notice-and-report requests; no new funding or ordinances were approved on these matters at the meeting.
