Facilities staff said the RFP will invite firms to visit the campus, meet stakeholders including high school staff and teachers, and produce concept schematics and indicative cost estimates. One trustee estimated the conceptual work could cost on the order of $20,000 and said the district can fund initial design work from available funds rather than seeking a bond.
Trustees framed the RFP as an early planning step to gather multiple ideas and to allow the district to select an architect who could later move into schematic and design phases if desired. The RFP was described as a predesigned, concept-stage engagement intended to surface options before committing to larger design or construction contracts.
The board moved and approved the RFP motion by voice vote. Staff said the RFP will include stakeholder input sessions with teachers, administrators and board members during the concept phase.
