"We're just trying to develop a way to make it fair and easy for us to determine and equal for everybody to have the opportunity to get those funds," Board Chair Kasillian said. Trustees described the topic as a positive problem: many teachers and sponsors are seeking support for travel because student groups are qualifying for events.
Trustees said they had developed ideas during the workshop but wanted to finalize a full plan before presenting it publicly. They agreed to table a final decision until the September meeting so staff can draft written guidelines and scenarios for allocation.
Discussion points included prioritization of travel tied to district goals, caps per request or per trustee, and ensuring availability of funds for high-priority events later in the year. No motion to adopt a guideline was made; trustees asked staff to prepare a proposed policy or rubric for the next meeting.
