Roseville receives Gold Leaf Challenge recognition from GreenStep Cities

Kristen Moroz, director of the GreenStep Cities program for the state of Minnesota, presented the Gold Leaf Challenge award to the City of Roseville during the Aug. 11 meeting, recognizing actions the city reported in 2024 that advance climate planning and community resilience.
Why it matters: the recognition signals continued local progress on the GreenStep Cities framework, which the city has participated in for over a decade and reached Step 5 in prior years. Moroz said the Gold Leaf program re-engages level-5 cities to pursue additional actions.
Moroz described Roseville’s four reported Gold Leaf actions in 2024: (1) a combined Green Team (public works, Environment and Transportation Commission collaboration); (2) hosting a Winona State University intern who worked on a green remodeling plan and reviewed an environmentally preferable purchasing policy; (3) community bike-summit visioning and outreach, and (4) expansion of bicycle/energy outreach and sustainability communications. City staff and volunteers involved in those efforts were thanked during the presentation. The council accepted the award unanimously.
