The council adopted Ordinance No. 4803 to annex property southeast of Fisherman Lane and Outrigger Avenue in Cimarron Meadows (13th edition) into the city limits to allow single‑family housing; the annexation was presented as the next phase of an existing developer's multi‑phase project and passed 8-0.
The Hastings City Council voted 8-0 to adopt Ordinance No. 4803, annexing property generally located southeast of the intersection of Fisherman Lane and Outrigger Avenue in Cimarron Meadows, thirteenth edition, into the city's corporate limits.
Amber Bathland, city planner, explained the developer requested annexation to develop two lots for single‑family housing and presented a final plat for the area. "The developer came with this plan to develop those 2 lots with single family housing and has asked to have the property annexed into the city limits," Bathland said. She said staff and the planning commission recommended approval and that the item was on its third reading.
A councilmember asked why the parcel had remained outside the city while surrounding lots were already in the city. Bathland explained the developer owned the whole area and had been developing it in phases, bringing this parcel forward as the next phase.
Councilmember Huntley moved to adopt Ordinance No. 4803 and Councilmember Larry Konsbrook seconded. The council approved the annexation 8-0.
With annexation approved, the property will be inside city limits for permitting and utilities; Bathland indicated the annexation follows prior planning and platting work for the subdivision.
No speakers registered opposition during the public hearing on this annexation.
