The Hastings City Council unanimously approved the final plat for Cedar Park subdivision, which will divide a parcel off South Cedar and East D Street into 12 lots and allow construction of 10 townhome units plus four apartment buildings for 58 total dwelling units.
Amber Bathland, city planner, told the council the property had been rezoned previously and a preliminary plat was approved in June. "This plat would divide the property into 12 lots, 10 townhome units, and 4 apartment buildings for 58 units total," Bathland said, noting the area is designated medium density residential in the comprehensive plan and is zoned R‑3 multiple family residential, so the proposed uses are permitted.
Bathland said the final plat is generally the same as the preliminary plat, has adequate access and infrastructure, and conforms to both the comprehensive plan and existing zoning. The planning commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval.
Councilmember Fong moved to approve the final plat and Councilmember Huntley seconded. The council voted 8-0 to approve the final plat.
The approval permits the developer to proceed with final engineering and subsequent building permits consistent with the approved plat and existing R‑3 standards.
