Susquehanna Township School District administrators gave a detailed capital update on Aug. 4, reporting that demolition for the Deerpath project is scheduled to begin in mid‑August and that the district will initiate a bond‑issuance process this fall to finance remaining work. District project staff said a demolition permit for the Deerpath Road site has been issued and that interior selective demolition is set to start Aug. 11 with an estimated 10‑week window for that phase. Officials said the goal is to complete demolition while final construction plans are submitted for building permits so the project can proceed without delay. Administrators also provided status updates on other projects: a middle‑school bleacher replacement with installation scheduled for mid‑August, a high‑school kitchen renovation that is slightly ahead of schedule with mechanical and concrete work complete, and a newly installed stormwater garden at the high‑school front entrance. However, the district reported a manufacturing delay for rooftop HVAC units originally expected in late July; the units now are expected to ship the week of Sept. 11, and installations will follow as soon as safe lift/crane operations can be scheduled, likely on weekends or in-service days to avoid occupied‑building safety issues. Financially, the district’s finance director told the board that the Deerpath construction will be financed through two bond issuances: one series already issued (2024 bonds) and a second issuance planned as 2025 series bonds. The administration said it will engage the district’s financial advisor in September and present a maximum‑parameters resolution to the board in late September; a bond sale would follow in October with settlement and proceeds in November. “We will not issue bonds in excess of $15 million,” the presentation said. Board members asked about construction sequencing, stormwater plan oversight and field maintenance. Administrators said stormwater work follows local township and county review and that regular inspections are part of permitting. The board requested continued updates and photographs of project progress and asked administration to coordinate schedules to minimize disruption to students and staff.
