The council approved the purchase of a compact 1,000–1,550 CFM jet/vac trailer for the sanitary sewer division at a total cost of $98,468, to be procured through the Sourcewell cooperative contract (No. 101221). Public-works staff said the trailer is a budgeted item and will be used in tight locations such as alleys, manholes and residential lift stations. The department maintains more than 120 residential lift stations across the city; staff said using a smaller vacuum unit will avoid driving larger 50,000-pound trucks onto private driveways and prevent damage. The item was presented by Mister Rigney, who said purchasing through the cooperative contract saves about 10% on the purchase price—approximately $10,000—compared with other procurement routes. Staff recommended approval and the council passed the purchase by roll call.
