Board approves purchase of new ambulance for county career unit

The Bedford County Board of Supervisors voted to buy a new ambulance for the county’s career unit, responding to a recommendation from Fire Chief Blankenship.

He told the board the purchase price is $468,835 and noted that figure is about $45,000 under the budgeted amount. He said delivery would take an estimated 24 to 30 months.
A motion to approve Resolution R081125-04 to purchase the ambulance passed on a roll call vote. The board recorded no questions during the presentation.
The county will proceed with procurement and expects the apparatus delivery in approximately two years, per the manufacturer’s stated lead time.
