The Plumas County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 12 approved payment of $6,687.60 to Dickens Drilling for emergency well repairs at the county fairgrounds. John Stefanik, representing the fairgrounds, said the well motor had failed shortly before a major event and that county staff performed field work that reduced the expected replacement costs.
Stefanik told the board county staff removed the well unit and completed repairs for about $6,000, which he contrasted with an earlier estimate of roughly $35,000 for motor replacement by a contractor. The board approved the noncontract invoice to Dickens Drilling from the adopted fiscal-year budget.
The item was presented as a routine budget authorization and no further action was required.
