The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 on Aug. 11 to add an urgency item to the special meeting agenda to allow a closed-session discussion about possible dismissal, termination or discipline of a public employee. The board later reported on the closed session that "information was received and direction given."
At the start of the meeting the presiding official asked to insert an item asking colleagues to "take action on a possible closed session on public employee employment, possible dismissal, termination, and or discipline." Board member Miles moved to add the urgency item; a second was recorded and the chair called the vote. The motion carried 5-0.
The board opened public comment before closed session; no members of the public spoke. After the closed session the board publicly stated only that information had been received and direction had been provided. The board did not identify the employee, department, alleged grounds, or any disciplinary outcome in the public report.
The meeting then adjourned.
